Turkish Mining Disaster — Donetsk Referendum — Algerian President — El Niño — Portugal Economy — Re:publica14
At the top of the news pyramid today is a major mining accident in Soma, Turkey. While over in Eastern Ukraine, two more regions have voted for independence. The Algerian president, despite failing health and remaining largely invisible, has won a 4th term. Climate scientists say El Niño will be here any day now. Credit agencies are patting Portugal on the back as that country steps out of the financial recovery program. And we finish today with some reflections on this year's Re:publica conference.
